To check them out, a visit to Saint-Jean-de-Luz market is in order, which is only 50 metres from the Hôtel de Paris.

Feel free to step through the doors of one of the traditional restaurants, whose local sweet and savoury dishes will thrill your taste buds, including piperade, tapas, sheep's milk cheeses, gâteau basque and black cherry jam.

Do not forget the city's pride and joy - the Saint-Jean-de-Luz macaroon, a small crunchy biscuit with a hard exterior and a soft interior.
