By car

  • If coming from Bordeaux/Bayonne/Toulouse/Pau:

Drive into Saint-Jean-de-Luz.

At the first roundabout, drive straight ahead into Avenue André Ithurralde and head for Saint-Sébastien.

At the second roundabout, turn left into Avenue de Chantaco and head for Saint-Sébastien, Ciboure.

At the next roundabout, turn right into Avenue des Pyrénées and head for Saint-Sébastien, Ciboure.

At the roundabout, turn left into Boulevard du Commandant Passicot and continue until you reach number 1.

  • If coming from Hendaye:

Drive into Saint-Jean-de-Luz. At the roundabout, turn right into Boulevard du Commandant Passicot and continue until you reach number 1.

By train

The Hôtel de Paris can be found directly opposite Saint-Jean-de-Luz-Ciboure train station. The station offers a number of trains a day, including high-speed trains (from Paris and Hendaye), inter-city trains and the Aquitaine TER regional train service (from Bordeaux, Dax and Hendaye).

Expect a 5 hr 40 min journey if travelling from Paris and a 2 hr 10 min journey if travelling from Bordeaux.

Biarritz-Anglet-Bayonne Airport is 15 km from the city. Flights arrive every day from Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Nice, Nantes and Paris, and are operated by Air France and Easyjet.

Church of St. John the Baptist is just a few minutes' walk from the Hôtel de Paris.

This listed church is renowned for its 17th century gilded wood altarpiece and is also famed for staging the wedding between Louis XIV and Infanta Maria Theresa of Spain.

The nearby House of Louis XIV, which played host to the Sun King during his stay in Saint-Jean-de-Luz, is also open to visitors and represents the ideal opportunity to discover the traditional Basque architecture of a building that was constructed by a local family of ship-owners in the 17th century.


Gourmets will be in seventh heaven in the Basque Country with its strong culinary identity and mouth-watering specialities.

This rack railway dates back to 1924 and will take you to the summit of La Rhune (altitude of 905 m), in the heart of the natural environment with unrestricted views over the Pyrenees and the Basque coastline.
